Special Education Teacher 1 - Friendship Academy of the Arts

Special Education Teachers

Meet Ms. Ablorh, Special Education Teacher

My name is Ms. Ablorh. This is my sixth year coordinating and providing services for students with special education programming at Friendship Academy. I look forward to helping our young scholars build their academic stamina as they explore their learning potential. I am excited to work in an energetic community that fosters critical thinking, independence, and everyone bringing their best.

I earned a Bachelor's degree and two Master's degrees. I also earned teaching licenses in math and music. Training in varied educational disciplines has deepened my appreciation for the enrichment that life-long learning can nourish. Experiencing the intrinsic joy in learning is a platform for future scholar success.

My pastimes include listening to music and occasionally cooking.

Meet Mr. Bezat, Special Education Teacher

My name is David Bezat, Mr. Z, Mr. B, or Mr. Bazeezee:) It is my first year as a full time SPED teacher! I have my undergraduate degree in Broad Field English with an emphasis in literature from UW-River Falls. I have been in the field of special education since 2017- working for MN Autism Center and Lionsgate Academy Lynx Program (public charter school serving specifically students with ASD). I have also worked for the Scouts BSA, and as a long term substitute for multiple schools.

I am passionate about early childhood intervention, individualized learning, and creating a solid foundation for our scholars to grow. Last year, I took over Ms. Schoon's class in February, and taught 3rd grade for the rest of the year. This was a great experience in getting to know these students, working with the Friendship curriculum, and learning the Friendship way. It is particularly important to us to address learning gaps this year, and make the most out of what we have been developing at both Freedom School and beyond!

Looking forward to a great year!

Meet Ms. Silva, Special Education Teacher

Hello students, families, and community! My name is Ms. Silva and I am excited to return to Friendship for my second year as the K-2 Special Education Teacher.

I grew up in St. Louis, MO and moved to Minnesota for college. I have my B.A. from St. Olaf College and am currently working on my M.A. in Teaching Special Education from the University of St. Thomas. I firmly believe that all students are capable of learning, and as a lifelong learner myself, it is my mission to support students as they find their own passion for learning.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking, kayaking, or in the park with friends. I have a great passion for theater and enjoy supporting local artists.

I'm excited to see what we learn from each other this year!
